Solutions for Syrian Economic Isolation

The people in North and East Syria (NES) continue to suffer due to ongoing Turkish occupation, the Coronavirus pandemic, a resurgent ISIS, and economic isolation. These factors threaten their citizens health, security, and economic stability. The document below is a letter I sent to several Representatives and Senators who serve on both the House and Senate Appropriations Committee and Foreign Relations Committee which highlights the challenges in NES and simple ways the U.S. can help. The first is to open the Iraq-Syria Rubiyah border crossing point for economic trade and the second is to allow NES to sell their oil on the international market. Instead of taking $100’s of millions from U.S. tax payers to support NES reconstruction, the U.S. can take these simple steps which will allow NES to make the money to rebuild themselves. If you have time, please contact your representatives and ask them to support these simple measures. If you need help crafting a letter or email, I would be happy to help. Thanks for your support to the people of North and East Syria.
